An undemanding aquarium plant which can grow under a variety of conditions but definitely does best in a nutrient rich substrate.
Unlike other popular varieties like C. Wendtii, the rhizomes of this variety sometimes grow vertically out of the substrate.
Can tolerate a large temperature range and is a favourite of both beginner as well as advanced aquarists. Like other Cryptocoryne species, it does not like to get disturbed and shifting of location almost invariably results on leaf melting. But then with time the leaves grow back.
Aquascaping tip
It’s a striking pant with narrow lanceolate leaves which has a brownish green colour on the top leaf surface and a green underside. Sometimes it has a marbled appearance as well. This contrast in leaf colour definitely makes this species a great fit for Nature Aquariums which uses driftwoods and can be used both as a midground or a foreground plant.
