Riccia can adopt to different water conditions but needs strong light. It can tolerate warmer temperature for some time but definitely thrives in cooler waters with artificial CO2 injection. If allowed to float they form dense cushions which can offer an excellent spawning ground for labyrinth fish.

Aquascaping tip
To use underwater, one must tie the plant ideally on rocks with rough surfaces. Under the right conditions, Riccia grows very fast. It starts pearling quite quickly. When Riccia mats pearls they a re very very pretty sight. With frequent trimming, Riccia can be kept submersed. The other trick is to use Riccia with other foreground plant like Hair Grass which can grow over the Riccia mats and kind of keeps Riccia, naturally stitched to a rock or other surface. A must try for anyone starting his or her aquascaping journey.
